You know that emoticon with the laughing face and tears streaming from its eyes? Well, that’s what I want to use as a response to this headline and the story you’re about to read.
On Tuesday, two massive shipments of tik, AKA crystal methamphetamine, were confiscated at OR Thambo, to a combined value of R29m. Damn, that’s a lot meth. Miff.
The first one was a suspicious group of three bags that were on the baggage carousel and had tags that were tampered with – but none of the labels corresponded with anyone on the flight.
After the bags were passed through a scanner, opened and searched, 17 packets containing tik worth about R18.6m were found wrapped in tin foil and cloth and covered in wigs.
A sniffer dog reacted positively to drugs in the cargo. Tik with an estimated street value of R10.6m was found in false bottoms in two bags hidden in the consignment.
Both of them were from Lagos, Nigeria. No wonder their economy is booming. Kidding, I know it’s the unethical oil trade they got going on.
