Maybe These Pictures And Video Will Help You Understand The Severity Of The Baghdad Bombings

The double bombing that took place in Baghdad on Saturday was the worst in Iraq since the US invasion in 2004. Sometimes pictures speak louder than words.

Iraqis mourned the more than 200 people killed by a jihadist-claimed suicide car bombing that was among the deadliest ever attacks in the country. The blast, which the Islamic State group said it carried out, hit the Karrada district early on July 3 as the area was packed with shoppers ahead of this week's holiday marking the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. / AFP / AHMAD AL-RUBAYE (Photo credit should read AHMAD AL-RUBAYE/AFP/Getty Images)

As of last night, the death toll of one of the worst terror attacks in Iraq’s history stood at 250 people, with scores more wounded.

The bustling neighbourhood of Karrada in central Baghdad was attacked, the area full with people out celebrating the holy month of Ramadan after sundown on Saturday.

Now, the area is sombre.

As the nation mourns, rescuers and volunteers continue to search for dozens of missing people.

Here are some drone images of the wreckage that has been left behind, thanks to a double attack claimed by the Islamic State group.
