Bill Murray may have played his fair share of down and out characters, but his estimated net worth sits at around $140 million (R1,9 billion).
That doesn’t mean he doesn’t like causing a little havoc in public, and the internet is full of tales of his trouble-making.
His most famous French Fries-stealing incident dates back to 2010, when he snatched a few off someone’s plate in New York. He then told the victim that no one would believe them, although with incident number two under his belt a clear pattern is beginning to form.
Bill is outta control, and it’s Vanity Fair with the proof:
“Seemed like he was just getting his friends to the airport; flight was delayed so they went for a bite”—and that the random act of food theft “gave everyone in the restaurant a good laugh.” As the photographer/friend of the victim describes it, before Murray popped the fry in his mouth (without dipping first!), “he walked in with a (very good looking) man and woman, and a few heads had turned when they came in.
They took a fairly private spot, but I had a clear sideways view and could see him occasionally looking around the room in a rather obvious way. I thought about asking for an autograph, my friend dissuaded me . . . ” Little did his friend know he was about to lose some of his lunch.
I like to think Bill’s the kind of guy whose table you could walk to, grab a handful of fries and walk off without fear of serious repercussion.
For that we cut him slack on the food-stealing front. You just do you Bill, although aren’t they called Freedom Fries these days?
