Everyone Thinks Die Antwoord Are Breaking Up – Yolandi Visser Responds

It was a rough weekend for fans of Die Antwoord (I would guess it usually is), with break-up rumours doing the rounds. Here's Yolandi to clear that up.

When you mess with Die Antwoord they aren’t afraid to come out swinging, and that’s certainly the case with the break-up rumours doing the rounds over the weekend.

Yolandi Visser, or ¥o-landi Vi$$er if you’re playing by her rules, would no doubt have seen the coverage across the major news outlets these past few days.

They all stemmed from an interview Die Antwoord did with Exclaim! Magazine, with this the pertinent section:

At the beginning of their career, South African rave-rappers Die Antwoordstated that they would release five albums and then “disappear.” With their fourth album, Mount Ninji and Da Nice Time Kid, set for release September 16 on Zef Records/Sony, the once-forgotten promise rears its head again. And despite achieving worldwide fame and going on sold-out tours across the globe, Die Antwoord are sticking to their guns.

Ninja confirmed that the group are set to officially disband in September, 2017. “Die Antwoord dies on that day. It’s all over. I feel beautiful about it. I’m not scared of the end. I’m a Ninja. I’m not scared of death.”

Well I’m not sure what was lost in translation there, but it looks like Yolandi isn’t very impressed with the journalist who penned the piece.

Here’s her Instagram post from Saturday morning local time:

Well, that’s pretty clear then – looks like they’re here to stay.
