Sure, the new iPhone generation was released last week and everywhere you look there has been some sort of opinion on it. But upon its release, Apple also announced iOS 10 – the new operating system for Apple devices – and it’s something that takes a little longer to review.
So what has it got to offer that’s new and exciting? Well, like the iPhones, Apple seems to be streamlining everything it has at the moment, preparing its users for what is set to be a massive release next year.
Basically, it’s the little things have been worked on to level the playing field.
Here are my top ten:
- You can FINALLY delete those stock apps you never used
Need I say more. Celebrations all around.
- You now have the power to turn words into emoji
This is very delayed, but finally Apple have caught on.
- You can easily send music previews via Messages
Yup, you read right:
- You can finally open the Camera app while playing music
The music stops, however, when you slide into video mode. - Close multiple tabs in Safari & Unlimited tabs in Safari
- Raise to wake
If you pick up your iPhone you will be able to see the lock screen and check any notifications or just quickly see the time. This feature isn’t there in iPhone 5s, and appears to be reserved for iPhone 6s or newer devices. - Collaborate with Notes

Dude, where’s your car, dude? Maps iOS 10 is here to help – but only if you have some sort of Bluetooth or CarPlay connection in your car, such as the manufacturer’s audio system, a third-party stereo, or something like a Bluetooth FM transmitter. - Magnify
You can now use your camera feature as a magnifying glass.
And seriously, that’s just the top 10. There are so many more which you can read about HERE, HERE and HERE (that last one is a gem) to learn about Apple’s new iOS system – but I’m willing to bet next year’s will be on a whole other level.
