Is it a river or is it a road?
Well, actually, it was once a highway.
But thanks to Hurricane Harvey (technically Tropical Storm Harvey now) dropping 19 trillion gallons of rain – a record for the US continent – a large part of the south of Texas flooded like nothing the USA has ever seen before.
The most striking images to show the startling difference are the before and after of the I-10 highway between Houston and Beaumont.

Yes, the photo sure does shows a different world.
It is estimated that the height of the “river” was around 2,5 metres at the time the photograph was taken, reports Daily Mail.
A sign of what’s to come? I mean, there are even waves.

Between climate change and poor city planning, Houston really has found itself in quite a dire position. Let’s hope the rest of us can learn from their mistakes.
