Flat Earthers are a special kind.
Not only do they believe that the earth is flat, but they also believe that there’s no such thing as gravity – or that if you lived in Australia and the earth was round, you would fall off.
Oh, and if the earth rotates, why don’t we “gyrate”?
Must be flat then, hey?
While the belief / conspiracy theory / chance for creatives to make up an elaborate story has been around forever, it was re-popularised in 2015, with YouTube videos, podcasts and even songs preaching the horizontal word.
Two years later and the first ever International Flat Earth Conference took place.
Seriously.
Held at the beginning of November outside of Raleigh, North Carolina, the event was sold out since May and saw hundreds of people attend.
According to VICE who was there to witness it, the conference was “an opportunity for believers to network, share research, meet thought leaders, find a flat-earth compatible mate, show off various NASA parody t-shirts, and talk shit about Neil deGrasse Tyson”.
And apparently it got deep – take a look at the craziness:
Hell, we might as well be located on the back of a flying turtle, then.
