The World Restaurant Awards Made This Awesome Short Video About Paternoster’s Wolfgat

Wolfgat went from being a small, locally-known restaurant to taking home the most coveted award at the World Restaurant Awards. Here's chef Kobus van der Merwe's story.

A little off-the-map restaurant in Paternoster is making waves worldwide.

Chef Kobus van der Merwe, who only learned to cook when he was 30, opened a tiny restaurant in a 130-year-old cottage and cave on the beach at Paternoster, two years ago.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

The restaurant, Wolfgat, just took the prize for ‘Restaurant of the Year’ at the World Restaurant Awards.

The Awards made a short video about van der Merwe, shining a little light on the chef’s journey from running a small business to getting international recognition.
