Queer comrades unite! Pride is almost upon us.
The theme this year is ‘True to You – Be Who You Are’, which is fitting for a celebration of the diverse sexualities, orientations, and identities celebrated at the festival.
This year promises to be bigger and better than ever with bands, floats and, of course, Cape Town’s queer community turning it out in the City.
Is your wig snatched yet?
Here’s the promo video to get you pumped:
Naturally, our drink of choice at last year’s parade was a G&T with the limited edition Fitch & Leedes Pink Tonic, rebranded in honour of Cape Town Pride.
This year, we’re pleased to announce that the rainbow can is back, back, back again (Hey Shangela!), and it’s brighter than ever.
Life is too short for nasty drinks, especially when you have a long walk ahead of you.
Speaking of that walk – the details for the Pride Parade and after party, 2020:
- When: Saturday, February 29, 2020, from 11AM – 3:30PM
- Where: Grab your best Judy and head on down to Chiappinni Street (The whole street, darling. You’ll understand when you get there.)
Make sure you get up a little earlier to beat your face so that you’re there and representing by the time the march starts at 12PM.
The march will be moving down the Fan Walk to the afterparty at Reddam Field at Green Point Urban Park.
- Tickets: Anyone can join in on the march, but you’ll need tickets to attend the afterparty. Get yours in advance, on Quicket, so that you can get a cold drink and a spot to sit as soon as you arrive.
After three kilometres in heels, some of you are going to need it.
Finally, the rules:
- Be kind, be you, be proud
- Listen to your marshalls – they are there for your safety
- Stay hydrated (this doesn’t mean Dora)
To get into the Pride spirit, and introduce some spirits to your (pre-Pride) drinks session, look out for Fitch & Leedes Pink Tonic, wherever excellent mixers are sold.
See you at Pride!
