South African sports fans, and fans around the world, have been starved of live action for a while now.
SuperSport is doing what it can to keep us entertained, but if ever there was a time for compilation videos and comparisons, it’s now.
We’ve already seen Cheslin Kolbe compared to rugby league superstar Kalyn Ponga, and there was only one winner there.
SA Rugby Mag decided to get in on the action with a Bryan Habana versus Kolbe comparison, and it has sparked some debate.
On the one hand you have Habana, second on the list of all-time test try scorers with 67, a World Cup winner, and a man who almost singlehandedly caused Hugh Bladen to suffer multiple heart attacks.
Admit it, you can hear Bladen shouting ‘HABANAAAAAA’ right now.
Kolbe, on the other hand, is the more versatile player, and also boasts THAT try in the Rugby World Cup final.
This is a good time to remember, South Africa, that each and every one of you is a world champion.
Alright, to the video:
So, who gets your vote?
These are the top-rated comments on the YouTube video:
Reckon I’ll give this tough decision the swerve and pick my dream XV back three – Habana and Jonah Lomu on the wings, with Kolbe at fullback.
Boot the ball to us at your peril.
SA Rugby Mag also put together these two videos, showcasing Springbok tries from 2018 and 2019.
May as well go down the wormhole. Enjoy…
