Canadian TikToker (not TikTokker, get it right) @thetastetest does what her account’s name suggests.
She tastes things, often at the suggestion of other people, and then uploads the videos to TikTok.
I wonder if she calls herself a foodie? Do people still call themselves that with a straight face?
We all like food, you are not special.
Back to this viral video nonsense, which starts with Christina Tessman being asked to review Oros.
A simple enough request, except for the fact that Tessman didn’t get the dilute memo, and straight-faced the Oros like it was a shot of Jägermeister.
She pulled a similar face to that of someone who has just knocked back a shot, too, before scoring it a six out of 10.
The Sunday Times online food section, when reporting on the video, said it “has left Mzansi shooketh”.
Please excuse me if I don’t use similar phrasing, as I’m trying hard to retain a semblance of personal pride.
It wasn’t long before #Oros started trending, which soon morphed into the #OrosChallenge.
Word got back to Tessman that South Africa was enjoying a chuckle at her expense, and she hopped on board:
Hey guys, so a lot of you have been asking about my Oros routine. Don’t forget to like and subscribe!
After suffering through the above, I can safely say I won’t be starting a TikTok account any time soon.
