Finnish skier Remi Lindholm ended his Beijing Winter Olympic debut on Saturday with damage to his, erm, equipment.

And by that, we don’t mean his skiing equipment…

Remi was facing harsh winds and extremely cold conditions tough enough to shorten the men’s 50-kilometre Cross-Country Skiing race to 30 kilometres

He battled his way to the finish line at the Zhangjiakou Olympic Ski Stadium, reported NewsAU:

“You can probably guess what was on the ice when I got to the finish line,” he said after finishing the event 28th over all.

Remi’s unusual injury was a frozen penis, which he has since spoken openly about:

He had to thaw his parts with heat packs in the locker room after the race and seems to have suffered immensely:

“When the body parts started to warm up after the finish, the pain was unbearable,” he added.

Remi was escorted across the line with the help of officials, holding his genitals as a ski jacket was placed around him:

The pain subsided eventually but that hasn’t stopped the 24-year-old from worrying about his reproductive organs:

The traumatic end to Remi’s race is not the first time that he has suffered such an injury. He also left November’s Ruka World Cup with a frozen “saint”.
