The game show Wheel of Fortune hasn’t had many fortunate moments of late.

Besides naming the incorrect winner once and sparking outrage about the rules, the latest episode from Tuesday night had folks “screaming at the TV” after what has been dubbed the show’s “dumbest moment ever”.

Three contestants took a frustrating eight turns and 10 attempts to solve a seemingly very simple puzzle: “Another feather _n yo_r _a_.”

But the contestants, much to the  audience’s TV-banging vexation, guessed everything but the correct answer, per New York Post:

Possibly bad game player Laura Machado had three guesses to win as host Pat Sajak and legendary letter-tuner Vanna White looked on. However, Machado’s maddening wrong answers included: “Another feather in your hat,” “Another feather in your lap” and “Another feather in your map.”

Meanwhile, fellow contestant Christopher Coleman didn’t guess any of the correct letters and landed on Bankrupt when he twirled TV’s most infamous wheel.

CAP. Another feather in your CAP!

Here’s the episode – try not to get too annoyed:

Fans were quick to express their grievances on Twitter:

Someone even suggested that the show “should have ended this ‘Wheel of Fortune’ episode with no winner”.

But longtime show host Pat Sajak was only standing up for the contestants in a Twitter thread that he posted after the online vitriol came pouring in.

He said the first attempt, ‘Feather in your hat’, is how a lot of people say it:

His rant continued across three more tweets, saying that laughing is fine but not when it is so obviously against the players who are doing their best.

He finally finished off with “After all, you may be there one day. And no one wants to be trending on Twitter.”

Maybe everyone just needs to practice with Wordle more often.
