Gather around, sufferers of acrophobia.
I generally try and steer clear of watching movies that terrify me, but maybe this will push you one step closer to facing your fear of heights.
You’ve ticked off three documentaries related to extreme climbing – Meru, Free Solo, and The Alpinist – so let’s turn our attention to Lionsgate Films’ upcoming thriller, Fall.
Does the title alone give away too much?
For that reason, we’ll just run through the basics of the plot via Collider:
It’s a beautiful sunny day, perfect for climbing, but tragedy strikes when the boyfriend (Mason Gooding) takes a fall that proves to be deadly. Recovering from the loss of her best friend and soulmate, Becky (Grace Caroline Currey) takes a long hiatus from climbing.
That is until her friend Hunter (Virginia Gardner) somehow convinces Becky to go on a harrowing climb up a 2,000-foot rickety radio tower. It’s an interesting way to face your fear of heights after watching your boyfriend fall to his death right before your eyes…
It really is an interesting life choice, Becky, but I’m sure you have your reasons.
Away we go:
Alex Honnold would manage.
Fall hits US theatres on August 12.
I’ll plonk the trailer for a film I would much rather watch below, a documentary on the life and times of Sir Ranulph Fiennes, often credited as being the world’s greatest living explorer for good reason.
Explorer, which scored a five-star review from The Telegraph, is released in UK theatres tomorrow:
