South African artists are killing it on the world stage at the moment as homegrown Belinda Davids channelled Whitney Houston to take yet another Golden Buzzer on the Got Talent All-Stars stage.
This is now the third time in two weeks that a Mzansi export has left judges weeping in their chairs as we continue to show the world we are more than just load-shedding and idiot politicians.
The angelic Belinda Davids gave a pitch-perfect performance of Whitney Houston’s classic ‘I Have Nothing’, stunning the judges into silence and earning herself a spot in the final of the Got Talent All-Stars series.
Born in Port Elizabeth, Davids grew up to the sounds of Aretha Franklin, Donny Hathaway, and of course, Whitney Houston. She entered the 2020 Britain’s Got Talent and made it to the semi-final in that series before losing out in the final rounds.
Her performance in that series was so moving that Simon Cowell himself proclaimed it to be ‘the moment we have been waiting for’.
The singer was however not deterred by the 2020 loss and came back in the 2023 All-Stars series with a performance that blew everyone away.
She now joins Musa Motha and the Mzansi Youth Choir as the true ambassadors of what Mzansi has to offer the world. Well done Belinda!
