The devil may soon be wearing Amazon.

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s wedding was the talk of the town, and it seems as though Bezos is planning to give an extravagant wedding gift to his new bride by purchasing Vogue.

According to reports, Bezos is allegedly in talks to buy Condé Nast, the powerhouse behind Vogue.

The rumour gained momentum following Sanchez’s recent Vogue cover shoot and Anna Wintour’s exit, sparking speculation of a shake-up behind the scenes. It soon emerged that it was Wintour herself who personally selected the Dolce & Gabbana gown worn by Bezos’s new wife, making the connection all the more curious.

Online speculation is growing, with comments like “That’s why Anna left then” and “I’m cancelling my subscription” flooding social media. Some even joked that the September issue might now feature Amazon fashion. Others pointed out how the photoshopped wedding photos of Lauren on Vogue’s cover suddenly “made more sense.”

British tabloids report that the possibility of Bezos purchasing the publishing giant has become a big topic within the Vogue offices, with signs suggesting the company may already be laying the groundwork for a potential sale, including a recent wave of global layoffs that also affected Condé Nast’s Italian division in recent months.

Despite official denials from the Newhouse family, owners of Condé Nast since 1959 through Advance Publications, several internal sources remain unconvinced.

Bezos isn’t new to the publishing game, and back in 2013, he bought the Washington Post for $250 million, ending the Graham family’s four-generation run at the helm. Even then, the sale stirred up plenty of controversy.

Bezos announced a major editorial pivot, saying the paper’s Opinion section would now focus almost entirely on “individual freedoms and free markets”. It was seen as a sharp conservative turn, clashing with the Post’s traditional editorial stance, and it didn’t sit well internally. The tension reached a breaking point when senior editor David Shipley also dramatically resigned in protest.

Considering Bezos’s editorial direction at the Post, the future of Vogue is uncertain.

Bezos and Sanchez seem to be on a mission, but at least this answers the question of what one of the richest men in the world gives his wife as a wedding present: Everything.
