Iran: where fun is a four letter word
Hot off the press in Iran this morning comes a report that the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults in Tehran has added any and all toys derived from The Simpsons to a nationwide ban list, which includes Barbie dolls and assorted products.
The Institute is charged with the protection of the innocent young minds of Iran’s children, specifically, keeping nasty items of Western culture out of their greedy grasp. Earlier this year, toy shops in Iran (it doesn’t take a lot of imagination to believe that Iran has the most depressing interpretation of the words ‘toy shop’) were routed of their Barbie products in a crack down against evil Western infidel toys and games, specifically those where genitals are distinctly visible on the toy. Ken, Barbie’s beau, likely escaped censure then.
