As a guy with a penchant for staying clean and not breaking into a sweat, I could be (and have been) described as ‘metrosexual’ from time to time. I’m fine with that because, on the whole, it is appreciated by all. As a result, I used my mother’s Dove soap throughout my youth and now use The Muse’s Dove deodorant as well. And I’m sure a lot of you did/do the same. As a kid, my mother always told me that Dove soap was the only soap I could use on my face. And the Dove deodorant – well – it just doesn’t smell overly womenly, so I quite enjoy it, even though The Muse has to replace hers too often (it’s a fair tradeoff for the top being left off the toothpaste).

In fact a large number of my buddies use the original Dove deodorant as well. We don’t really talk about it – because we’re scared of being judged. But we don’t mind doing it because, let’s face it, a dove is a pretty sexuality-nuetral bird, right? It would be slightly more tricky to pull off if it was, say, a pink flamingo or a peacock.

You know you’ve tried it before..

I wrote to the kind people at Unilever a while back and asked them why there isn’t a made-for-men’s range and they told me to keep an eye out for Dove Men+Care. That time has come and I am now the proud owner of the full range of products. I’ve been using the deodorant (roll-on, stick and aerosol) and shower gel (for body AND face!) for a couple weeks now and this is clearly the way to go. I’m not overly surprised, as I’ve been using the Dove brand for most of my life. Only now I don’t have to feel so naughty. Or rather, I know that they’re catoring to me specifically.

They’re very well priced as well, so do yourself a favour and get in the mix. Dove Men+Care is pre-approved by me.
