Last week, it was reported that another South African had been arrested abroad for trying to smuggle drugs into another country. Kathlyn Dunn (28) was arrested last week at Lombok International Airport after arriving on a flight from Singapore. Her goal was to carry 2,6kg of methamphetamine, with a street value of R4,4m into the Indonesian resort island of Lombok.
Provincial police detective chief Ricky Simon Paays said that Dunn’s offence could carry a death penalty.
X-ray screening at the airport found suspicious materials inside the suspect’s suitcase. Two packages containing methamphetamine were later found in the lining of her suitcase.
