No your fantasy is not coming true, and mermaids still don’t exist, but this fake documentary has angered some people. The fake documentary aired on the Animal Planet on Sunday, with the network describing the documentary as “science fiction based on some real events and scientific theory.”
The documentary managed to convince some viewers that mermaids may in fact be real. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said they had calls streaming in with viewers desperate to find out the truth regarding these mythical creatures.
The fake documentary has used some examples from nature as well as evolution-based theories as a foundation to create this fantasy. Charlie Foley, executive producer, creator and writer of the show asks that viewers watch the documentary bearing in mind that the premise is fiction.
