Take A Peak Inside Facebook’s Arctic Circle Data Centre – The Biggest In Europe [GALLERY]

The largest data centre in Europe now belongs to Facebook. Situated on the edge of the Arctic Circle, it is powered by water and cools its servers with Nordic air. And of course it has a games room. This is the data centre from the inside.

Luleå in Sweden is the site for Facebook’s newest data centre. This data centre is situated on the edge of the Arctic Circle and is aimed at processing data coming from Europe, the Middle East and Africa. This is the first time Facebook has opted for a data centre outside of America.

The server hub is largest of its kind in Europe, and most northerly of its magnitude anywhere on Earth.

Facebook’s carbon footprint seems to be decreasing with the new data centre too as it’s powered by hydro-electricity and the servers are cooled down with icy Nordic air.
