Radvertising: Ad Vibrates Through Listener’s Skull As They Rest Their Head On Train Window [VIDEO]

Technology that is currently only used by the military and deaf people was recently used by advertising agency BBDO in Germany on behalf of broadcasting company Sky Deutschland. It advertised the company's new mobile app through bone conduction.

Recently train commuters in Germany who rested their heads against the train window received a message that only they could hear through the train window.

A transmitter attached to the window sends high frequency oscillations. These are then converted into sound by the brain which the person is able to hear through bone conduction. The advert was launched in January for broadcasting company Sky Deutschland’s new mobile app, Sky Go. BBDO Germany said:

Passengers got surprised and enjoyed this new form of advertising. Highly encouraging first reactions by commuters and our client.
