The number of views a video gets are seen as a numerical indicator of its popularity and are used by advertisers to select when and where to place their to place its advertisement. That’s why YouTube is clamping down on artificially inflated view counts.
In the past YouTube have scanned views immediately for spam, but will now employ periodic validation audits to insure the integrity of view counts. They aim to remove views generated by redirects, deceptive layouts of third-party sites tricking users into view a video, pop-under links and from purchasing views from third-party websites. We previously did an article in regards to the latter, where a local company sold fake YouTube views, Twitter followers and Facebook Fans.
Good luck, you guys..
Through their audits YouTube aims to maintain the trust of its users and advertisers to ensure future growth.
