UberFacts reaches millions of people with its factoids everyday. But what most of its 6.3 million Twitter followers don’t know is that many of these “facts” are half-truths, misleading, or patently false.
Blogger Matt Novak did some fact checking of 64 UberFacts released during the course of one day. He found that 38 of them were true, 11 were complete lies and the rest were partially true or are highly debatable. Here are a some UberFacts he found that were all made up:
- Cuddling with a teddy bear releases the same amount of endorphins as having sex – Putting you in a good mood.
- On average, people will spend about two weeks of their life kissing.
- Over-thinking is one of the top causes of depression.
- Jagermeister was originally intended to be a cough medicine.
- Ikea is actually the world’s largest and richest “non-profit charity.”
- The more intelligent a woman is, the less likely she is to be fertile.
- There is approximately 20 trillion pounds of ants on the earth.
