Southern African band Freshlyground were scheduled to perform the closing number at the Harare International Festival of the Arts. Shortly after their arrival, however, Freshlyground were rounded up and shipped straight back to whence they came. Four years ago they were banned from performing in Zimbabwe as a result of their video: Chicken to Change. The video is aimed at His Excellency Robert Mugabe and urges him to “become the hero he used to be” by stepping down. [Southern Eye]. Bob, it seems, might just be aiming at setting a new record for holding a grudge. Nice one Bob – not only have you made a success of turning your country into a place where everyone dies, but you are darn clever at showing the world that your ego is roughly the size of Texas.
