Please Enjoy This Comedian Pretending To Be Part Of The Departing English World Cup Squad [Gallery]

English comedian Simon Brodkin, known for playing Lee Nelson, donned a suit and shiny earrings and attempted to get involved with the England football squad prior to them leaving for their pre-World Cup training camp. The look on Steven Gerrard's face says it all.

While at times it may seem like it, it appears that just looking the part isn’t enough to make it into the England football squad.

English comedian Simon Brodkin, dressed as his character the “Premier League footballer” Jason Bent, attempted to mingle with the English team ahead of their departure for World Cup training.

While he looked pretty legit, England captain Steven Gerrard didn’t recognise the incognito imposter, and airport security escorted Brodkin away.

So close, yet so far.

Brodkin has tried a similar stunt before, warming-up with the Manchester City team before a match against Everton at Goodison Park. He was given a six-month conditional caution.
