Old Jacob Zuma is getting it from all angles at the moment.

Firstly, someone thought it would be a good idea to run a social media campaign asking for public participation in what should be discussed at SONA. You can read how well that went down HERE.

Now Johann Rupert, head of the rather successful Rembrandt group, has put our country’s governance under the spotlight and it hasn’t come out unscathed. Fin24 quotes Rupert here:

People are trying to run a private sector (in South Africa) when the public sector is not being run properly…look at the (poor) talent pool for the (ruling) ANC.

If they continue to think (they can) run a country as complex as this (one) without the help of the civil society and the private sector… then we are in trouble. We (business) have put out our hands in friendship, but there needs to be a bit more trust in one another.

He also came to the defence of farmers, citing the increasing amount of farm attacks and proposed plans to cap land ownership as adding to their already ‘beleaguered’ state.

Rupert then bemoaned the death of free speech and accountability. This from fin24:

It is totally under attack.” Was there honesty and transparency in government actions, he asked: “Please… we don’t have to debate that.

Of course JZ has his hands full dealing with Julius and his threats of disrupting SONA come February 12, so I doubt he is paying much attention to Johan. I’m sure he wakes up sweating with ‘Pay Back The Money’ ringing in his ears.
