We know that Twitter can be dangerous territory for any public figure, what with the hordes of trolls waiting to send abusive messages your way.
Then there’s politicians and Twitter, a sure-fire way to bring the worst types of people out of the woodwork. Ask Mmusi Maimane, the new DA leader who handled his ‘Twitter Town Hall’ trolls like a boss.
Now a rather important person joined Twitter yesterday, a certain Barack Obama. He announced his arrival with this tweet:
As you can see it was quite popular, being retweeted over 200 000 times. Obama’s account quickly gathered steam and he currently has around 1,5 million followers. He also caught the eye of former president and notorious rabble-rouser Bill Clinton, who couldn’t resist sending this:
Of course that would be in reference to Hillary Clinton who announced last month that she was running for the presidency in 2016. The last laugh went to Obama, who we know enjoys a good chuckle, who sent this back:
