As Trevor Noah readies himself to take on one of television’s biggest gigs, the hosting of The Daily Show, it’s good to know he can still find the time to crack jokes about things here at home.

Noah is currently in the country promoting his show Lost in Translation and appeared yesterday on Radio 702. The local comedy hero took the opportunity to poke fun at the expense of Sepp Blatter and the corrupt organisation he heads. He is quoted here on TimesLive:

What I love about Fifa is that they are just globally corrupt, everyone has the equal opportunity to bribe them. I understood that Danny Jordaan was saying: ‘No, we paid the money long afterwards.’ That’s what I like about Fifa: you can pay your monies afterwards, you don’t have to pay before, you can do it in instalments.

He isn’t wrong I suppose, all you need is $10 million lying around and a briefcase you can take with to Paris. T-No then spoke about how he will have to adapt his brand of comedy to one that appeals to a wider global audience:

I know now that I’m going into a world where I’m not even ready for what people will say about me. It will be the craziest things…

I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed at first, because people think I’m going to go to The Daily Show and tell jokes about Nkandla. I have to become more global.

Don’t be coy, we all know we can rely on you to stick the knife in now and again. You might even help bring some much-needed global attention to Nkandlagate, leading to a worldwide outcry and something resembling justice.

Hey, if Trevor’s success has taught us anything it’s that a man can dream.
