It’s time for an unpopular opinion.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I think Chicken Licken adverts are on par, if not better, than Nando’s adverts.
You might remember that we discussed something similar back in April, featuring that robotic Sbu advert and a few golden oldies, but now there’s more spice to add to the mix.
Licken is back, and their new campaign features five adverts based on Western movies, with a distinctly South African twist.
Before we check them out, some deets via Bizcommunity:
While previous Chicken Licken campaigns focused on a journey toward inner peace, this time a new perspective was acquired…
So, two strategic questions were posed for development: where would it be nearly impossible to find inner peace? And what would it look like if this place were in fact found?
The answer? A small town in the Wild Wild West, a place typically fraught with tension, but this time there is something very different. We see South African quirks play out in a Western setting by injecting a little bit of our saucy South Africa into the Wild West. And then placing a Chicken Licken restaurant right in the centre of it all, starring and introducing Bootless Bandit Durango.
Let’s meet the Bootless Bandit in a number of different settings.
Directions…
Lekker, lekker dans…
The land…
Bra…
And to finish, taxis…
It’s different, it’s uniquely South African, and it’s not all doom and gloom – a good three-prong approach in these troubled times.
No need to attack – we can enjoy Chicken Licken and Nando’s adverts on this here Fake Friday.
