Airport security is always on high alert, and when you add some Italian drama into the mix, anything can happen.

On Monday, the Italian police found a suspicious suitcase in the Rome Airport.

In order to diffuse (ahem) a potentially dangerous situation, they decided to blow it up to see what was inside.

Freelance journalist Ned Donovan ― who was inside the airport at the time, documented the ordeal on Twitter.

Here’s the Huffington Post with more info:

“They blew up what they thought was a bomb in the middle of the airport while people were about 10 meters away,” he wrote. “And then when it was destroyed the police just wandered off and left it to be cleaned up.”

Better yet – they just moved on to somebody else’s pants:

    Chilled.

Even more chilled – the bag was full of some super dangerous…wait for it…coconuts.

The posts were met with some great responses from Donovan’s followers:

    I feel you, Kate:

“Your Mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries“:

    Law and Order:

I’ll give the Italians this – they’re calm in a crisis.

Let’s hope the owner of the luggage stayed calm when they returned to what was left of their suitcase.
