Everybody knows that real estate in London is expensive, but let’s look at it comparatively.
Here’s a house available in Constantia for just over R30 000 a month. It has a pool and three bedrooms.
Quite nice. You can see more of it here at Pam Golding, who are currently embroiled in a money laundering scandal.
But then we cross to Camden, London – full of bars and restaurants and buzzing shops. And this little gem, for just £1 560 (around R31 000) a month.
They say a picture speaks a thousand words. But I believe a floor plan does even more.
And there you have it.
I, personally, wouldn’t have used the title ‘Reception Room’ for the only other room besides the shared bedroom/toilet. Calling something a Reception Room suggests there are other rooms to go to once you’ve been ‘received’. Rather call it ‘The Grand Room’ so people can think they’ve actually got something besides a stove and a bed.
Let’s check out some actual pictures now. They’re faded because apparently, the listing isn’t active at the moment.
That’s the toilet/bed at the top, and two shots of ‘The Reception Room’ at the bottom. That’s where you are received before you go to sleep or make a number two.
For a moment I thought that door on the right of the last shot was storage space to put a bicycle or bags. But after reviewing the floor plan, I see it’s the entrance door.
Wonderful.
Better lock that bike up outside.
