You’d think that with fewer people on the roads, the likelihood of road accidents would diminish.
Instead, we’ve seen some wild collisions over the past two weeks, and some of them have involved law enforcement.
Then there was the civilian who crashed into a FreshStop at a petrol station. He went right through the wall and door, coming to a stop next to the checkout counter before running away.
That was an odd one.
The latest crash comes to us from Bloemfontein, where a police van careened into two people at a shopping centre on Tuesday afternoon.
Police have confirmed the authenticity of a video of the incident after it was posted on social media on Wednesday.
Spokesperson Brig Sam Makhele said officers received information of the accident at Bayswater shopping centre about 3pm on Tuesday.
The video is shocking:

The two people, a security guard from Bloemsec and a woman, were found next to the pavement of the shopping centre and rushed to hospital in stable condition.
The driver of the van made it out with no injuries, but could be facing charges of reckless and negligent driving.
