A scene you’re likely to encounter in an action movie worth its salt is the one where a car crashes into the front of a building, coming to a stop inside.
It always seemed implausible – especially the part where everyone inside the building makes it out alive.
Turns out there’s some truth to the physics of those action sequences, which we now know because a car crashed into the FreshStop at a Caltex garage in Amanzimtoti, just south of Durban.
What is it about petrol stations, lockdown, and crashes?
According to SAPeople, by some miracle, nobody was hurt.
The CCTV footage is wild:
As you can see, two customers and a petrol attendant narrowly escaped the VW Golf.
Over to South Coast Sun, who reports that the incident happened on April 3, 2020.
Manager of the store, Mark Hardman confirmed that the incident occurred at the Umbogintwini shop. “The incident happened at about 11pm. There were no major injuries sustained. Our store is now open for business again,” he said.
The driver of the car, who had filled up with petrol just before crashing into the shop, emerged from the vehicle and ran away.
SAPS is on the hunt for the driver on a number of charges.
