  • This Is What Eight Bar Buys You In Kommetjie

For those who have a cool R39 million to splash, I would recommend this delightful home in Noordhoek.

If your budget doesn’t allow, or you prefer to be further from the city and closer to the beach, Kommetjie is a decent place to call home.

Klein Slangkop is a popular spot, with the most sought after houses basically a stone’s throw from the beach, but every property within the gated and secured eco-estate is in close proximity to the water.

The write-up on Pam Golding says that ‘Seabreeze’, the four-bedroom home on the market for R7,8 million, is “perfect for a family looking to live the Kommetjie lifestyle”, which means you’ll be on the kombucha within months.

Aptly named, this beach retreat invites you to laze away long summer days lulled by fresh sea air and majestic vistas.

This sunny, north-facing home is protected from the natural elements and has been designed with several outdoor decks, boasting tranquil views and privacy.

The main entertainment deck area includes a Jacuzzi and built-in-braai. This open-plan home encourages year-round indoor/outdoor living with a seamless flow to the garden.

There is a wood-burning fireplace for winter and stacking doors that fold back in summer.

I visited Klein Slangkop recently and people leave their flips flops on the walkway down to the beach. That’s a degree of trust you just don’t get in the city.

None visible in the photo above, but ask a local. They’ll tell you.

You may even see the odd baboon troop, although as things stand, it may be without Kataza, one of the alpha males.

You can see the full listing here.
