Yes, I know, your cat is the second most intelligent feline in the world, and wouldn’t harm a fly.
(Mine is the first. It’s not up for debate.)
When the lights are off, however, cats with space to roam tend to do so, and many are very skilled hunters.
A study from earlier this year, published on the Daily Maverick, found that ‘200,000-plus’ wild animals are killed in Table Mountain National Park by Cape Town cats each year.
That number is disputed by some local organisations, like the National Cat Action Taskforce, which features in the video below.
Carte Blanche has weighed in on the matter, and it’s time for ‘Kitty Cams’ to reveal what’s happening while you’re tucked in for the night
A University of Cape Town study strapped tiny cameras and GPS trackers around the necks of cats to study their nocturnal habits. Carte Blanche takes a look at what the study revealed about our feline friends.
Cats on the hunt for geckos, cats encountering porcupines, and even the endangered western leopard toad – all caught on camera.
Smug designer dog owners, like French bulldogs and pugs, need not cast the first stone:
