Yeah, of course.
It was only the biggest story of the week, dominating headlines and spawning countless think pieces and analyses.
The writers and cast of Saturday Night Live also had just under a full week to digest and then react to The Slap.
Suffice to say you know what I’m referring to, but if you’ve just emerged from a spell under your favourite rock here’s a fresh angle featuring Jada Pinkett Smith’s reaction to fill you in.
This weekend’s show, hosted by Jerrod Carmichael, referenced The Slap throughout. Carmichael is an actor and stand-up comedian, in case you were wondering.
The first three minutes of his opening monologue lasered in on the incident:

SNL hosts Michael Che and Colin Jost also roasted the Smiths during the Weekend Update running segment.
Che, in particular, was very critical of Will. Here’s The Independent:
Che said: “Can we stop pretending everybody knew Jada had alopecia?”
“I mean as much as we heard about Jada and Will’s personal lives, you can’t expect us to retain everything,” he joked. “Just selfishly as a comedian, I’m tired of people putting their own insecurities on our joke intentions.”

Kenan Thompson then played the role of OJ Simpson and offered his two cents:

Carmichael later starred in a sketch with Chris Redd where they re-enacted Smith’s slap as seen from the point of view of the audience:

They’ve done far better sketches.
Or maybe it’s just because we are all, surely, by now really tired of hearing about this incident.
