Eight Stunners From TIME’s Top 100 Photos Of 2022

The photos were chosen by the outlet's eight-person team of photo editors and "aim to show in pictures that this year was indeed different".

People, rejoice – they are finally here.

You know it’s getting close to that time when friends ask about your December plans and the internet fills up with hundreds of ‘best of 2022’ lists.

Let us get in on that action nice and early with TIME Magazine’s Top 100 Photos of 2022 list, published yesterday because we all know that any photo taken from late November onwards is shite.

The photos were chosen by the outlet’s eight-person team of photo editors and “aim to show in pictures that this year was indeed different”.

That photo above, taken by Diego Reyes (AFP / Getty Images), is captioned “a demonstrator sits under an umbrella while blocking an access route to Iquique, Chile, during a regional strike called by different organizations against illegal immigration, on Jan. 31”.

Let’s do seven more, some of which are pretty grim. 2022 hasn’t exactly been a walk in the park.

Sorry to end on such a gut-wrenching image. We can’t talk about 2022 without Russia’s invasion of Ukraine coming to mind.
