What started as an innocent enough online question about a local bakery has unexpectedly sparked a wave of laughter and business for the Lebanese Bakery and Kitchen in Claremont.
Nathan-Ross Adams took to the local Cape Town Eats Group on Facebook to ask for recommendations about a Lebanese bakery. But thanks to an overzealous autocorrect, “Lebanese” was hilariously transformed into “Lesbian.”
The post quickly went viral, with the comments section lighting up with jokes and playful disappointment from LGBTQIA+ supporters who were momentarily excited by the idea of a “Lesbian Bakery.”

“Hey Nathan-Ross Adams…thanks for the shout out. Our DM’s are blowing up. As a way of saying thank you for the extra attention, we would love to invite you for a private tasting with Chef. This way, you can be the judge! Reviews are like opinions, and we know what people say about those.
Come and taste some happiness with us! Drop us a private message and we’ll arrange the rest!” – Lebanese Bakery and Kitchen
It’s refreshing to see Cape Town still has a sense of humour. Thanks for the laugh, Nathan-Ross.
