Johnny Ives, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Industrial Design, just put down $17 million for a stunning, five-storey mansion in San Francisco’s Gold Coast neighbourhood, Pacific Heights. So, what exactly does that kind of money buy you? Let’s take a look.
Ives’s new crib is a sprawling 7 274-square-foot, six bedroom, eight and a half bathroom, five-storey mansion. It was built in 1927 by San Franciscan architecture firm Willis Polk and Co, which was also responsible for the Palace of Fine Arts, which incidentally can be seen from the new home’s perch. In addition to the “basics”, the house also features an elevator, a solarium, a garden courtyard, staff quarters, and six fireplaces. There’s also an oak-paneled library, a deck-level spa, raised ceilings throughout, and magnificent views of San Francisco, the world-renowned Golden Gate Bridge and infamous Alcatraz prison.
