World-renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz recently completed a Hurricane Sandy-themed shoot for Vogue magazine.
Called Storm Troopers, these images features members of various emergency services doing their work while models strike high-fashion poses next to them.
According to Vogue, the shoot was intended as a tribute to Sandy’s first responders.
When Hurricane Sandy hit, the city’s bravest and brightest punched back. With the area now on the mend, we paid these stalwart souls a visit, dressed up in the best of the New York collections. Call them New York’s other finest.
But not everyone is impressed, with some even labelling it as “tacky” and “tasteless”. Slate magazine’s response, however, wins hands down:
Is this what happens when Anna Wintour feels emotion?
More images from the shoot can be seen below, and include a scene where a wave crashes on to the bow of a US Coast Guard boat while three models strike a pose – gazing serenely across the choppy waters in skimpy dresses.
Another one sees the National Guard delivering food parcels to a nearby hospital, while supermodel Joan Smalls leans on an infantryman’s shoulder and shows off a Proenza Schouler leather crocheted jacket and skirt.
