The Young Designer’s Emporium (YDE) is known for their crazy sales. Customers queue from the early hours of the morning to ensure they are one of the first to enter the doors. Their annual ‘Naked Sale’ has everything in store priced at R99. And who wouldn’t want to buy locally designed and manufactured items at a great price.
But what happened on Tuesday 23 July 2013 at the YDE store at the V&A Waterfront was unbelievable. Crowds swarmed the entrance of the store, pushing and shoving to get their foot in the door. The mall security guards stood no chance against the crowds. Even innocent bystanders were crushed by the crowds.
This amateur video displays the lengths some will go to for the YDE ‘Naked Sale’.
