James Bond’s car from the 1977 classic, ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ has gone up for auction. But this is not just any car, it’s a fully-functional submarine car! Having racked up more screen-time than any other 007 car, this Lotus Espirt is a real collector’s item.
You may recall that Roger Moore (the Daniel Craig of 1977) was lucky enough to be driving one of these when he was being chased by an enemy helicopter. Naturally, he drove the car into the water and turned on “submarine-mode”. When the baddies thought Bond was dead (silly baddies), he fired a missile out the boot and blew the helicopter up in true 007 style.
The car is said to be a fully operational, self-propelled submarine. You can see it in action right here:
