Everyone remembers their 21st birthday, right? No? It was probably because it was THAT big a party, not because you didn’t celebrate. The Bastille Festival is turning 21 this year and as always, it promises to be amazing! The 12th and 13th of July are going to be epic, and you definitely don’t want to miss out.
Everything from wine and food to live street performances, it is a celebration of everything French! It can get a bit overwhelming though – lets face it, we can’t stay 21 forever. A little down-time will likely be necessary to make the most of this experience and there is no better place to defrost (why they insist on doing these things in the middle of winter is beyond us!) and recover from the bustling crowds and busy streets than sitting on a comfy couch, beside a roaring fire, sipping a fantastic variety from the best grapes Franschhoek has to offer.
Haute Cabrière (the home of the much loved Pierre Jourdan) is just the place to do this, they will even wine and dine you if you decide your tired feet are not up to bracing the outdoors again. Beautiful food, great wine, what could be a better place of refuge when the heavens open (as they inevitably do in the Cape’s July).
While you are there, be sure to indulge in the great 2ov special they have going – A case of Pierre Jourdan for R600… now we’re talking.
