It didn’t happen until Donald Trump says something about it, and that includes criminal case law in South Africa. The Donald took to Twitter over the last few days to vent…
Judge Masipa gave her verdict over two days, and Donald Trump pumped out two tweets over those two days:
Thursday
Just to recap:
The judge left little doubt that she thought Pistorius was a liar, though she did not use that word. He seemed “composed and logical” while giving his version of events to his own lawyer she said. But under cross-examination, “he lost his composure” and “contradicted himself.”
And Pistorius was “clearly not candid with the court when he said” he had no intention to shoot anyone, Masipa said. After all, “he had a loaded firearm in his hands.”
But so what? “Courts shouldn’t attach much weight to untruthfulness,” she said. “The conclusion that because a witness is untruthful, it does not mean he is guilty.”
As to his intent, Pistorius “is the only person who can say what his state of mind was at the time he fired the shots.”
