This thing:
Whilst it might not be a new subject (and no, these video’s aren’t from last night’s awesome CT sunset), I still find myself looking for that damn green flash when I watch the sunset. We got into a heated little talk in the office yesterday, and I took it upon myself to gather some more info.
What causes it? According to Wikipedia:
Green flashes are optical phenomena that sometimes occur right after sunset or right before sunrise. When the conditions are right, a green spot is visible above the upper rim of the disk of the sun… Green flashes occur because the atmosphere can cause the light from the sun to separate out into different colors.
Have you ever seen it?
It truly is something special (mostly because you have to be relaxing on a beach somewhere to see it best).
