If you are a fan of the Mary Jane, then best you start hoarding your stash and stop sharing it at Friday braais. Why the slight panic? Well, there’s a massive weed shortage in Joburg.
According to an anonymous dealer, the shortage “has been going on for at least a month, wherever you go you just can’t find”.
The shortage is being caused by two factors: Werner Koekemoer, an investigator at Mike Bolhuis Investigators, says changing weather patterns, particularly in Swaziland, have “a big influence on dagga”.
Secondly, the SAPS have been doing a good job sniffing out the marijuana plantations in the Transkei and have sprayed all the trees. There are also rumours that police have been burning bushes is Swaziland.
Spokesman Lieutenant-General Solomon Makgale said over 500ha of plantations, with a street value of billions, was destroyed.
Looks like the people of Jozi are in for a tough few months. Best you guys all come to Cape Town to “relax”.
