OK, TAG Heuer Is Making A Smart Watch

With the Swiss watch industry so worried about the impending knock it is going to take because of Apple, it's no wonder they're doing this.

We have reported twice now on the worries that Swiss watchmakers have with regards to the launch of the Apple Watch. Swatch seems to be in a full panic, whilst the rest of them are hoping the love for ‘traditional’ watches holds fast.

Just in case though, TAG Heuer is getting the smartwatch ball rolling. The company has signed a deal with Intel and Google. Not much else has been said about design, price or release dates, but from what has been said in the press release, the smartwatch will not come cheap.

David Singleton, Google’s director of engineering for Android Wear, talked about “fusing beauty with technology” for a “unique blend of emotion and innovation.”

Well that sounds expensive.

You can buy this TAG from their Formula 1 collection for $2 150:

Or this one – the Monaco V4 Titanium and Ceramic limited edition for $70 000:

So, really, the price could be anything for the TAG smartwatch.
It will run on “Intel’s chip technology and Google’s Android software”. Google has already been playing the smartwatch game: 2014 saw the LG G Watch, the Samsung Gear Live and the Moto 360 from Motorola.
Come on TAG, giddy up.
