London Police Are Treating A Body Found In A Canal In A Suitcase As ‘Suspicious’

Whilst real life may not mirror those CSI shows perfectly we do know that there are some pretty shrewd investigators out there. Sometimes, though, you have to wonder.

So let’s put on our Sherlock Holmes caps, puff on our pipes (hang on, was Sherlock a trail-blazing hipster?) and play a game of real-life Cluedo here.

You find the body of a deceased person inside a suitcase. That suitcase is in a canal in West London. Do you…

a) decide not to pursue an investigation as there are no alarm bells ringing here?

b) secretly think there might have been foul play at work, but don’t speak up for fear of ridicule by your colleagues?

c) smell a rat and treat the death as suspicious?

Congrats if you went with the third option, you may be ready to walk the beat with the London Metropolitan Police. Here’s Sky News:

Police were called to the Grand Union canal near Delamere Terrace in Maida Vale at around 2.30pm on Sunday, along with members of the Marine Policing Unit and fire brigade…

A spokesman for the Metropolitan police said: “Police are treating the death as suspicious.

“Detectives from Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating and police are working to discover the identity of the deceased.”

Yes London police, I think you’re right, something does seem amiss here. Come to think of it you don’t find many suitcases with bodies inside these days, your suspicion may not be unfounded.

Good sleuthing all round, now back to coffee and doughnuts.
