Rumours Of Banksy’s Theme Park Have Been Confirmed

The illusive Banksy is back and this time he is going all out, with a theme park dedicated to a sinister, dystopian version of Disney Land.

Banksy is going big. This time, he is creating a pop-up exhibition show that will take a sinister turn on the seemingly innocent Disneyland. Appropriately titled Dismaland, the theme park will open this Saturday and run for five weeks.

Located in Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, England the theme park/exhibition space is being constructed at the Tropicana, a 10,000-acre sprawling concrete lot that’s been abandoned since 2000.

At first, it was reported that locals were told the site is a movie set for a film called “Grey Fox” and the construction site is ringed with fences featuring signs reading “Crew Notice Grey Fox Productions.” So where did this Banksy rumour come from?

[A]ccording to the Post, nobody’s spotted cameramen or other traditional film crew on the site in recent weeks. Additionally, financial records show Holly Cushing, the executive producer of Banksy film Exit Through the Gift Shop and rumored manager of the mysterious artist, “established limited company called Dismaland Ltd with Simon Durban, who is thought to be Banksy’s accountant, on May 1.

Rumours were confirmed when Dismaland.co.uk went live.
The details of the exhibition are all available on the site – and there’s even a map of the park.
It seems like it’s everything in one – including an events line up with some pretty cool names.
The name comes from Banky’s 2013 piece:
Various pics have been taken by passersby that at first were just leaked speculations. Now, we can at least put two and two together. Check out what you’re missing – unless you’re going to be in Bristol within the next five weeks.
